Alex Boucher, a well-known figure in the UK video games industry, has been awarded a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in recognition of their contributions to entrepreneurship and commercial success within the sector.
With a career spanning 15 years, Boucher has helped shape the growth and international reach of UK games businesses through a blend of sales leadership, strategic thinking, and grassroots community engagement. From building revenue strategies to supporting emerging studios, their work has consistently championed sustainable, long-term growth in the industry.
In addition to their commercial achievements, Boucher has co-founded and supported several widely respected industry initiatives. These include Game Dev Heroes, celebrating the unsung talent behind games; the Games Growth Summit, focused on sharing practical advice to help studios and businesses thrive; and the DevPub Quiz, a grassroots community event that brings people together across the games sector. All three initiatives have gained significant traction and become fixtures in the UK games calendar.
Boucher also serves as a trustee for Safe In Our World, a mental health charity dedicated to supporting the emotional wellbeing of those working in games.
“This honour is an incredible surprise and a real privilege,” said Boucher. “I’ve always believed in the power of collaboration, community, and creativity in this industry. If anything I’ve done has helped others grow, feel seen, or connect more meaningfully with their work or each other, then I’m happy. I’m deeply grateful to everyone who’s been part of the journey.”
